The New Me Project
This week, I announced that I have just gained National Lottery community funding to run a new project. “The New Me Project” is a venture close to my heart. It is aimed at empowering women to boost their self-esteem. I started this project because as a therapist I witness daily how low self-esteem can have a profound impact on mental health, affecting everything from relationships to career aspirations. Through free group coaching and self-development sessions, I hope to help women rebuild their confidence, foster resilience, and lead fulfilling lives.
The Heart Behind The New Me Project: My Journey and Purpose"
I started "The New Me Project" because self-esteem is often the silent force shaping how we experience life. Studies show that around 85% of people globally struggle with low self-esteem, and it can deeply affect mental health without them realising. Low self-esteem is linked to anxiety, depression, and self-sabotaging behaviours, limiting personal growth and happiness. I have been through my journey with low self-esteem as a young woman.
Growing up in Nottingham, I struggled to find my place. Neither black nor white, I never felt a sense of belonging – exacerbated by the bullying I endured throughout school,” says Natasha, “I also carried the weight of dyslexia, but without diagnosis until much later in life, I received no support. Crippled by low self-esteem, I – like many other young people in my low-income area – developed a series of unhealthy relationships and turned to drinking, drugs, and even shoplifting. My own experience not only gives me a compassionate perspective to support the difficult journeys of others but it’s also informed my practice as a professional. I’m dedicated to being a vocal advocate for marginalised people who grew up like I did.
The Power of Self-Esteem: How Improving It Transforms Lives
Understanding and boosting self-esteem is vital not only for mental well-being but also for leading a fulfilling life. For example, low self-esteem can prevent people from pursuing goals, damage relationships, and lead to perfectionism, procrastination, or burnout. By helping women recognize their intrinsic value, "The New Me Project" fosters resilience and promotes positive mental health. Our commitment to your well-being is unwavering, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
In my years as a therapist, I’ve seen the incredible transformations people can make when they address their inner struggles. I have witnessed people change careers, leave relationships that were not healthy for them, and pursue things in life they never dreamt possible for them. Low self-esteem can stop people from living a fulfilled life, and I am committed to helping address this silent force and help more people overcome it. Next year, I’ll release my book, the theme of which is closely linked to this project. I am incredibly excited to be able to support even more women on their journeys toward self-empowerment, resilience, and mental well-being on a global scale through my book. To follow my journey to publication, follow me on social media or sign up to my weekly mailing list for more information about the book launch next year, July 2025.
